The Leftovers is an HBO television series, based on the 2011 bestselling novel The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta. Created by Damon Lindelof and Perrotta, the series premiered on June 29, 2014. On August 13, 2014, HBO renewed The Leftovers for a second season, which premiered on October 4, 2015.


When 2% of the world’s population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to come to terms with what happened. Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, The Leftovers follows Kevin Garvey, a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies. Kevin's wife Laurie, has joined a cult called the "Guilty Remnant," their son, Tommy, has left home and college, and their daughter, Jill, is acting out.
